One More Case?

Aarav never thought his life would turn into a never-ending courtroom drama. It all started one ordinary night. One all-too-ordinary evening, he was just lounging at home on the couch while checking social media. Something felt off.

The lights flickered. His heart pounded. Was it just a power fluctuation, or was someone there? Thinking fast, he loudly said, “Yes, Inspector! Send the team now!” hoping to scare off any intruders. But just in case, he quickly pressed the emergency dial on his phone. Before he could process anything else, three masked men burst in.

What followed was sheer chaos. Aarav grabbed whatever he could, a chair, a cricket bat, even a broken lamp, to fight them off. By the time the police arrived, three injured intruders were writhing on the floor. Self-defense was clear, and the case against him was dismissed. But something unexpected happened—overnight, he became a national hero.

News channels ran his story non-stop. Social media called him the “Accidental Avenger“. Even Bollywood came knocking, eager to buy the rights to his tale. But while the world saw him as a fearless savior, Aarav was about to realize that life had different plans for him.

If there are some, one could say it wasn’t very long after when trouble sneaked up right behind him like a shadow.

He was returning from work one evening when he happened across an old couple being robbed in an alley. He moved into the alley, without even sparing a moment, tackled the mugger, and retrieved the wallet. By the time he was catching his breath, the police had just arrived. The actual thief had run away, leaving Aarav standing there, holding the evidence. Case filed.

Another time, he was sipping coffee at a café when a fight broke out between two aggressive customers. He stepped in to break it up. Unfortunately, in the scuffle, he accidentally elbowed a plainclothes cop monitoring the situation. Case filed.

At a friend’s wedding, things went from bad to worse. A drunken guest started causing a scene. Aarav tried to calm him down, but in the chaos, a loud slap echoed through the hall. It wasn’t his doing, but someone pointed fingers at him. The police arrived, and before he could explain, he was hauled away. Case filed.

Then came the weirdest incident yet. One morning, during his jog, he found a stray dog near a park bench. Feeling sorry for it, he took it home and fed it. The next day, there was a knock on his door—police officers with stern expressions. The dog, it turned out, was a missing police K9 in training. They accused him of stealing government property. Case filed.

It didn’t stop there.

One night, he took an auto-rickshaw home, only for the police to pull it over for a routine check. Turns out, the driver was a wanted criminal. Aarav, clueless in the backseat, was taken in as an accomplice. Case filed.

When asked to appear on a talk show to discuss his peculiar run of bad luck, calamity struck. As he walked into the seating area, he tripped over a loose wire and catapulted into the lap of a prominent government official, knocking his spectacles flat to the floor. Security saw it as an “attack“. Case filed.

By this point, the internet had gone crazy. Hashtags like #CaseMagnet and #FirseCase trended daily. He became a walking meme. News debates speculated whether he was the unluckiest man alive or just cursed. Bollywood even offered him a cameo in a comedy film about his own life.

Frustrated, Aarav decided he had had enough. He booked a one-way flight out of the country. A fresh start. A life where people wouldn’t greet him with, “Hey man, is there any new case again?

As he handed his passport to the officer at the airport, alarms blared. Security swarmed him.

What now?!” he groaned.

Your passport is flagged,” an officer informed him. “It’s linked to an international smuggling ring. You need to come with us.

Aarav stood there, stunned. But as they led him away, he overheard two officers whispering.

Something’s not right. His name keeps showing up in cases by mistake. Someone is setting him up.

His heart sank. Could it be true? Had all these cases not been coincidences, but a setup? If so, who was behind it?

As the crowd gathered around, someone in the distance laughed and said:

One more case?!
